In order to be eligible for certification a student must graduate from an accredited educational institution. Entry level athletic therapy or exercise science programs use a skill based approach in both the classroom and on-field settings. Students receive fundamental training in human anatomy, human physiology, exercise physiology, biomechanics, emergency care, therapeutic modalities, rehabilitation techniques, nutrition, injury prevention, acute care of injury and illness, statistics and research design, and strength training and conditioning.
